Prayer instead of worry..

Prayer instead of worry..

Oh boy is this a tough one for me! Prayer can be tough sometimes. We wonder what to pray or how to pray it. There’s not a strict rule book and you’re not getting graded on your prayer so just go for it.

Sometimes we have a hard time asking for what we want through prayer like “God I want to do this as my career” or “God I want a husband like x,y,x” or we worry and don’t pray and we think things like: “God can you just show me who & when I’ll marry, then I won’t have to worry cause I’ll know”. This is what faith is about, believing and knowing without seeing it. But, the cool thing is we do see it, we see God answer prayers, we see blessings happen daily, even as small as waking up each day is a huge blessing we receive, and we see it through kindness. We don’t need glimpses into the future when we are strong in our faith because we are trusting and knowing that God will come through & provide. Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I chose you. Before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

This verse is soooooo cool!!!! God IS the almighty. He knows what we are gonna eat for lunch today, what our careers will be and even who we are going to marry. I recently had a conversation with a friend about how God is literally the greatest matchmaker of all time and the greatest episode of the bachelor because he has known our whole lives who our soul mate is. To me that is crazy cool y’all! Now, while I find a ton of comfort in this verse, I often find myself almost too secured by it. So much so that I worry about things but I don’t pray about them. Why? Ugh, because I sometimes think “oh I don’t need to pray about that because God already knows the outcome so I’ll just trust that!” While yes, this is true he does know, we still need to pray.

Why should we still pray?

1.) He hears all of our prayers.                                                                                                               Vs.  Jeremiah 29:12-13

2.) It is ok to pray for things you want but do so by praying according to his will.              Vs. 1st John 5:14.

3.) Even when we know he is in control, it can help ease our worries and comfort us to pray. Vs. Philippians 4:6 & Matthew 6:8

4.) Helps keep us strong in our own faith so we can fight temptation.                                             Vs. Matthew 26:41

5.) It helps strengthen and build our relationship with him. Just like a friendship, you keep contact in order to maintain the friendship. We pray and keep our contact with God so we too can have a strong relationship with him. Don’t shut the door on him. Just like a friend, keep him in close contact. He is there for us if we seek out to him, he is there with open arms.  Vs. Proverbs 8:17 & Lamentations 3:25

*I am in no way perfect nor have I memorized every bible verse. This is just what spoke to me during my morning quiet time and I pray that it will reach at least one or all of you! I am here to say I struggle too and I am here to struggle and work through things with you!

XOXO,                                                                                                                                      MM

I seriously love this. Sometimes we get wrapped up in life and forget that we need to be spending time in prayer and fellowship with the Lord. Thank you for posting such a sweet reminder to savor time with Him! 💓
